Dave Chappelle - Sticks and Stones

Dave Chappelle’s “Sticks and Stones” is one of the most genius thought-provoking experiences in the comedy world at the moment.

There’s no need to repeat that Dave Chappelle is one of the best comedians alive.

I wont go deep on any details, just go watch it.

6 Reasons why Dave Chappelle's Sticks and Stones was brilliant:

#1. The name of the special

“Sticks and Stones” is an English-language children’s rhyme. The rhyme persuades the child victim of name-calling to ignore the taunt, to refrain from physical retaliation, and to remain calm and good-living. The full rhyme is usually a variant of:

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words will never harm me.

#2. The Anthony Bourdain beginning

#3. The audience confronting

The joke is on YOU.

#4. The prison jumpsuit

He’s so ready to be judged, he’s already dressed for prison.

#5. The uncensored topics

Comedy censorship, Michael Jackson, school shootings, the opioid vs crack crisis, #MeToo and the women’s movement are topics on the special’s menu.

#6. The bonus Epilogue

Dave Chappelle’s Sticks and Stones ends with Chappelle brilliantly answering the audience’s questions.

Censoring comedians is a really dangerous thing.
Comedy is comedy.
We need to Make Comedy Offensive Again.

You might be missing the most brilliant one: He now has Leftists accusing him of being a Black White Supremacist.

  2. Sensibilities says:

Dave Chappelle skewers all segments of society, and he should be treasured for it. He is truly one of the great comedians of this century. If I were African American he’d be a role model as a similar looking person. Even then, I plan on teaching my children to look up to those that are able to cross all segments of society in such an effortless manner. Dave has my well wishes from a Latino.
